Position: Junior Project Officer (Internship) – Climate Justice

The Hague Humanity Hub is looking for a motivated Junior Project Officer to support our Climate Justice programming. In this role, you’ll help design and deliver engaging events, initiatives, and collaborations that strengthen our community of climate justice practitioners, researchers, and advocates in The Hague and beyond. You’ll contribute to building connections between members, amplifying their impact, and fostering a sense of shared purpose around climate action and social justice. This is a great opportunity for someone who is proactive, creative, and passionate about sustainability and social justice, and eager to gain hands-on experience in programme coordination and community building within an international, mission-driven environment.

Your General Responsibilities

As the Junior Project Officer you will be an essential part of the Climate Justice team. Reporting to and collaborating closely with the programme manager, you will play a key role in driving forward our programming and community-building efforts. Your responsibilities will include:

Project Coordination 

  • Supporting the design, planning, and execution of programming activities and events related to Climate Justice.
  • Support with the execution of the The Hague Climate Justice Lab project, with focus on community mapping and knowledge exchange across various local and international actors.
  • Assisting in the further development and strategy of the Climate Justice Community and Programming at the Humanity Hub.

Community Management

  • Helping build and nurture a vibrant, engaged community of changemakers and stakeholders.
  • Assisting in creating opportunities for community members to connect, collaborate, and exchange ideas.

Communication

  • Collaborate with other departments within the Hub such as the communications team and the campus team to respectively help promote and facilitate the programming activities within the area.
  • Support with the production of written and designed content for our website and newsletter on topics relevant to Climate Justice

Representation and Networking

  • Represent and present the Humanity Hub at different events.
  • Support efforts to map, build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, partners, potential members and speakers relevant to the programmes.
  • Support the Hub’s business development and fundraising activities.

  • A curious, friendly personality with the ability to stay calm, responsive, and solution oriented.
  • You are punctual, well-organized, detail oriented, proactive and can multi-task.
  • A flexible, can-do attitude, ready to jump between tasks and help where needed, and suggest improvements.
  • Ideally you have experience with event management and facilitation.
  • You are fluent in English and can (ideally) communicate in Dutch. Dutch speaking candidates are strongly encouraged to apply.
  • Excellent communication skills, in writing and verbally.
  • You can work independently and collaborate within a team. You welcome feedback and use it to improve and learn.
  • Available for flexible working hours to support events as required.

Requirements

  • You are studying/have studied a degree in a relevant field (for example, but not limited to:  Sustainable Development Studies, International Law, Urban Studies, Political Science, Public Relations, Communications, Business Management).
  • You are legally allowed to do an internship in the Netherlands.
  • You are living in, or near, The Hague.
  • You must be able to work at least 4 days per week (32 hours).
  • You must be available for the entire duration of the internship (September 2026-end of February 2027).
