Hackathon for Good at TechFest 2025

10 February, 2025

The first weekend of February, our Managing Director Jill Wilkinson was on the Grand Jury for the Hackathon for Good at TechFest. “I am always amazed by the incredible creative solutions the teams come up in only 48 hours, using latest technology to help solve real-life societal and environmental issues,”  Jill Wilkinson.

Congratulations to the team ‘No Mono’ for winning the Grand Prize 7th edition of Hackathon for Good. ‘No Mono’ solved the challenge of increasing biodiversity in private residential zones with an online citizen and community engagement platform activating personal action and offering direct insight into the impact on biodiversity. The user journey combined analogue and digital media and the prototype demo looked great and was user friendly.

The winning challenge was brought in by Stichting Steenbreek.

“From creative approaches to biodiversity and citizen engagement to data-driven humanitarian solutions, each winning project reflected a deep understanding of complex challenges and a commitment to making a positive impact,” Mathis van der Voort, organiser of the Hackathon for Good

Mathis van der Voordt, organiser of the Hackathon for Good, looks back on another successful event. “The ingenuity and determination demonstrated by the teams was truly impressive. From creative approaches to biodiversity and citizen engagement to data-driven humanitarian solutions, each winning project reflected a deep understanding of complex challenges and a commitment to making a positive impact. These well-deserved wins are a direct product of great collaboration and innovation.”

As we continue to see advances in digital technologies, the Hackathon for Good serves as a reminder and source of inspiration for the peace and justice community. What challenges do you have that technology could help solve?
