About Justice & Peace
Justice & Peace is a Dutch human rights organization that works on a society in which people can defend their rights, have space to participate and take responsibility for each other. From The Hague, we work with an international team on concrete change: local, national and international.

We combine direct execution with building and strengthening networks. With programs such as Shelter City and Samen Hier, we support human rights defenders, connect citizens and newcomers, work together with municipalities and bring social partners together. We also work with young people on their knowledge, skills and opportunities to actively commit to social change.

What will you do?
As a Fundraising & Operations Manager, you will enter a broad management role for six months. You ensure continuity during maternity leave and provide a quick overview of the financial, organizational and fundraising processes. You monitor that day-to-day business operations run smoothly, that financial and donor obligations are met and that important applications and reports are delivered on time and of good quality. At the same time, you will work together with the MT on the further professionalization of the organization and give direction to fundraising and communication.

You will be part of the MT, together with the director and program managers, and work closely with the administrator and other colleagues. You will also manage the communication & fundraising team.

Specifically, you will do the following:

  • You monitor the budgets, financial progress and financial health of programs, projects and the organization as a whole.
  • Together with the program managers, you monitor that projects are implemented and monitored in line with agreements, budgets and requirements of donors.
  • You keep an overview of project proposals, current financing and reports and monitor quality, planning and consistency.
    You carry out the final check on funding applications and reports to donors and ensure that substantive and financial information meets donor requirements.
  • You support program staff in drawing up budgets and writing funding applications and reports.
  • Where necessary, you help write funding applications and reports yourself.
  • You oversee the fundraising within Justice & Peace and, together with the MT, the fundraiser and other colleagues, ensure a good overview of opportunities, current applications and funding priorities.
  • You oversee the implementation of the communication plan and, together with the communication advisor, monitor the progress, priorities and connection to the organizational goals.
  • You ensure coherence between communication, fundraising and the substantive programs of Justice & Peace.
  • You identify financial, operational and strategic risks and contribute to the improvement and streamlining of internal processes.
  • You will work together with the MT and the administrator on business operations, HR and quality management and contribute to the assurance of relevant quality requirements, including the ANBI status, the CBF quality mark and ISO quality assurance.
  • Together with the administrator, you ensure that the Board of Directors receives the correct financial information about the financial coverage and progress every quarter.
  • You manage the fundraiser, communication advisor and office manager.

Who we are looking for
We are looking for an experienced and independent manager who gets energy from creating an overview, improving processes and ensuring that an organization runs well financially and organizationally.

In addition, you recognize yourself in the following points:

  • You have HBO/WO work and thinking level and at least five years of experience within an NGO; experience in a management position is a plus.
  • You have demonstrable financial insight and experience with project budgets, budgets and financial progress.
  • You have experience with donor compliance, project accountability and working with institutional or other donors.
  • You have experience with fundraising and developing project proposals. You know how to translate substantive ideas into clear and convincing proposals and reports.
  • You have experience in managing and supervising colleagues.
  • You are analytical, careful and organizationally strong, but can also make pragmatic choices.
  • You communicate professionally and convincingly in Dutch and English.
  • You have an affinity with human rights and migration and are well aware of current social and political developments.
  • Experience with quality management, HR, ANBI, CBF or ISO processes is a plus.

You will work from our office in the center of The Hague, with the opportunity to work partly from home.

In addition, we offer:

  • A salary between €3,467 and €5,202 gross per month (based on 36 hours), depending on knowledge and experience;
  • 8% holiday pay and an end-of-year allowance of 8.3%;
  • Full travel allowance up to 100 km from office (2nd class);
  • Participation in pension fund PFZW;
  • A six-month contract;
