The Humanity Hub and The Hague's innovation hubs present a joint action agenda for the city

22 September, 2026

The Hague innovation hubs Unknown Group, Security Delta (HSD), Campus@Sea, The Hague Tech and The Hague Humanity Hub presented a joint action agenda on Prinsjesdag (State Opening of Parliament) to Deputy Mayor Richard de Mos and through him to the college of the municipality of The Hague. After ten years of building the individual innovation ecosystems from The Hague, the organisations are now joining forces to strengthen The Hague’s position as an innovative and future-proof city.

The Hague has a strong international position as a city for peace, justice and security based on world class organisations and expertise. To maintain and further expand this position in the future, innovation is essential. The innovation hubs therefore plan to work with the municipality to focus on concrete results that stimulate innovation, entrepreneurship, and economic growth in the city.

The agenda presents five concrete actions:

  • Humanity Open Innovation Campus. Bringing international organisations and knowledge institutions together to increase their collective impact and strengthen The Hague as an international knowledge city for peace and justice.
  • Labs as growth engines for innovation. The city’s living labs help organisations move from experiment to real-world application and a scalable business case.
  • European Defence & Security Week. From April 2027, The Hague will host an annual international week connecting companies, governments, knowledge institutions, talent and investors around defence and security.
  • Secure decentralised energy hubs. Combining local energy, digitalisation and cyber security to help ease grid congestion and open new economic opportunities.
  • A Hague Entrepreneurship Centre. Connecting education, public and private partners to give students and young entrepreneurs more room to develop.

“The city’s strategy to invest in innovation hubs economic engines is paying off. Today we can further build on 5 strong ecosystems to improve resilience and impact. We are particularly excited about the Open Innovation Campus to and the potential for even greater collaboration and innovation addressing global transition challenges”

Jill Wilkinson, Managing Director of The Hague Humanity Hub

The action agenda is not only about ambitions, but above all about implementation. We look forward to further cooperation with the municipality of The Hague and our partners to achieve these ambitions, concrete results and working together towards an innovative, resilient and economically strong city.
