The Hague Climate Week 2024

The Hague Humanity Hub was part of this year’s Hague Climate Week, held in parallel with National Climate Week and COP29 in Baku. The Hub’s participation involved a range of activities aimed at engaging the public. Additionally, further building the community of professionals working on Climate Justice. In which we emphasise The Hague’s role as the City of Peace and Justice in the context of climate justice, locally and internationally.  

Monday, 11 November

Kick-off Climate Week at the Hofvijver

  • Together with aldermen Arjen Kapteijns and Robert Barker, Nanette D’Inella Capano Bos from Bibliotheek Den Haag, Yuri Impens, Lynn Duivesteijn and Anne de Koster from Gemeente Den Haag, Duurzaam Den Haag and Climate Mayors Anniek Monen and Ilse Valkering, we kicked of The Hague Climate Week!

Opening Event, held at het Nutshuis, 60+ attendees  

  • The Hub facilitated a breakout session on Collective Action for Climate Justice in The Hague as part of its ongoing efforts in Climate Justice Community Building. 

Wednesday, 13 November

Just Peace Movie Night: All That Breathes

  • In collaboration with Filmhuis Den Haag, Movies That Matter, and with speakers from IDLO, ISS, and WYCJ we had an inspiring movie screening of ‘All That Breathes’. This is part of the Hub’s Public Engagement Programme, Just Peace The Hague.

Attendance: 75 participants 

Thursday, 14 November

Hybrid Brown Bag Lunch – Digital Sustainability 

  • Within the theme of Building Cyber Resilience to Secure Climate Action we co-hosted with Cyber Peace Institute a Hybrid Brown Bag Lunch. We focused on digital security strategies for NGOs and their climate initiatives. Following steps are exploring the interest and needs around cybersecurity among the Climate Justice Community.  

Friday, 15 November

European Delegation at the Hub

  • We hosted a European Delegation at the Hub as part of the city’s involvement in the 100 Climate Neutral & Smart Cities and the receiving of the EU Mission Label  

Klimaatcafé XL: special event for Hague Climate Agreement initiatives  

  • Engaged in the International Deals session, highlighting the Hub’s role in Climate Justice Community Building.  

Saturday, 16 November

Just Peace Movie Night at Het Koorenhuis 

  • We organised a Just Peace Movie Night in collaboration with WYCJ, PISFCC, Interactive Media Foundation, and the City of The Hague. 
  • Featured speakers from PISFCC, Blue Ocean, and the filmmaker of YUMI – The Whole World.
