Stichting Aandacht voor Aandacht

Attention for Attention is a foundation dedicated to protecting human attention in an age of constant digital distraction.
Founded by artists, educators, and activists, the organisation challenges the unchecked growth of the attention economy—where human focus is increasingly shaped, captured, and monetised by commercial and political forces.
Attention for Attention works to raise awareness, educate communities, and inspire action so individuals can reclaim control over where, when, and how they direct their attention.

What We Stand For
At the heart of the organisation is a simple but urgent belief:
Freedom of attention should be a human right.
The ability to direct one’s own focus—without manipulation or constant interruption—is fundamental to autonomy, wellbeing, and democratic participation. Without it, rights such as freedom of thought and expression are weakened.
Attention for Attention brings this perspective into public discourse, combining neuroscience, art, and lived experience to make the invisible impact of attention loss visible.

What We Do

  • Community Building: We bring together artists, educators, and activists to form a growing movement that resists the commercial exploitation of attention. Through interactive art, campaigns, and workshops, we create spaces for reflection and awareness.
  • Advocacy for the Right to Freedom of Attention :We work to establish freedom of attention as a recognised human right, contributing new thinking to conversations around peace, justice, and digital ethics.
  • Lobbying & Partnerships: We advocate for the inclusion of the Right to Freedom of Attention in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. This requires collaboration across sectors, and we actively seek to build bridges between the arts, academia, policymakers, and international institutions.

Our Vision
Attention for Attention is part of a growing resistance against the “attention robbers”—systems designed to capture and exploit human focus.

Our long-term goal is to build global recognition that attention is not just a resource, but a right—one that must be protected for individuals and societies to thrive.
