(Online) Indigenous Peoples and the United Nations

The ILO Convention 169 and the UNDRIP provide a specific international legal framework to safeguard the survival, dignity and well-being of the indigenous peoples of the world. In addition to these instruments, indigenous peoples are today able to voice their concerns and complain against violations of their rights through mechanisms such as the Permanent Forum on Indigenous Peoples and UN human rights bodies. Panellists will draw on their experiences and reflect upon the impact of these instruments and mechanisms for indigenous communities. Do they feel the impact of these institutions in domestic laws and policies? What is missing and what else can be done?
