Inclusive Service Delivery and the SDGs

5 May @ 08:00 - 16 May @ 17:00

Local public services, such as healthcare, clean water and social services, have a great impact on our daily lives and well-being. However, in many countries, low-income communities often lack access to these important services. Local governments can improve access and make a difference. To do this, they need sufficient capacity and resources, and support from the central government.

The Inclusive Service Delivery and the SDGs course explores how the different levels of government can cooperate effectively to realise inclusive public service delivery. The Sustainable Development Goals provide a starting point for discussion and knowledge sharing. In particular, we will address SDG 3 (good health and well-being), 5 (gender equality), 6 (clean water and sanitation), 8 (decent work and economic growth), 10 (reduced inequalities), 11 (sustainable cities and communities) and 16 (peace, justice and strong institutions). The course discusses analytical tools and methods to finance local services. Attention will also be paid to policies to involve citizens and strategies to strengthen public-private cooperation.
