Impacthon is a 12-hour student hackathon where interdisciplinary teams come together to tackle real-world challenges. Organised by PLNT Leiden and PLNT Students, the event offers a hands-on experience focused on collaboration, creativity, and developing solutions with tangible impact.

This year’s central theme, “Nourishing Neighbourhoods,” invites participants to explore how communities can become safer, more connected, and more sustainable. Within this theme, teams define their own challenge and work within one of three focus areas:

• Safe Neighbourhood
• Connected Neighbourhood
• Green Neighbourhood

Throughout the day, participants will move from problem identification to solution development, working collaboratively to research, ideate, and prototype innovative concepts. The event culminates in a final pitching session, where teams present their solutions to peers and partners.

The Impacthon has two main objectives:

1. To stimulate innovative thinking and problem-solving by empowering students to address real-life challenges through interdisciplinary collaboration;
2. To create meaningful connections between participants, fostering teamwork, exchange of perspectives, and shared learning.

• A student eager to work on real-world challenges;
• Interested in innovation, sustainability, or community impact;
• Motivated to collaborate with people from different disciplines and backgrounds.

The day includes plenary sessions, breakout workshops, and dedicated time for team collaboration, as well as opportunities to connect informally during shared meals and networking moments.

The winning team will receive a €2000 prize to invest in a workshop or course of their choice—supporting personal growth and future ambitions.
