The world is grappling with complex, interrelated crises – including conflict, climate change, declining trust in institutions, and a widening justice gap – that threaten to reverse decades of development gains, undermine the multilateral system, and destabilize societies. With growing polarization and heightened risks, the next few years are likely to be an extreme resilience test of governance at all levels.
The Pact for the Future, the Global Digital Compact, and the Declaration on Future Generations, together reflect global leaders’ commitment to correct course and build a renewed multilateralism to address shared challenges. The rule of law will be central to delivering on these bold ambitions.
In a world of unprecedented challenges and opportunities, IDLO’s new Strategic Plan 2025-2028 is grounded in our belief that the rule of law is not just an abstract principle but a powerful tool that can promote peace and prosperity, unlock development potential, and protect human rights for all.
