Funding Democratic Futures

3 June @ 18:00 - 21:00

In a time of rising extremism and polarization across the world, democratic principles and the rule of law is increasingly under pressure, not only elsewhere, but also in The Netherlands and in Europe.

On Wednesday, June 3rd, The HER Collective and The Hague Humanity Hub are pleased to invite donors, investors, and the wider democracy ecosystem along with HER members, to jointly explore possible pathways to safeguard a democratic future.

As noted in the charter of HER Democracy, “Freedom, Rule of Law and Equal Rights under the Law are the three key components of democracy that require safeguarding and action.”

Global funding sources are increasing to safeguard and strengthen democratic rights. Are Dutch and European funding sources also rising to the occasion and if so, what are they funding? What would you fund if you had €10 million to contribute? Are new pathways needed to secure a democratic future?

We invite funders and initiatives that strengthen and defend democracy to explore questions such as:

  • What needs to be done and how would it be funded?
  • What is currently being supported and why?
  • Which pathways do we believe will lead to democratic futures?
