The film ‘The Meeting This link opens in a new tab‘ (2018) gives an insight in the power of a progressive form of justice: ‘restorative justice’. The script is based on a true story of an encounter which took place in Dublin in the form of a restorative justice meeting between Ailbhe Griffith and the man who, nine years earlier, subjected her to a horrific sexual assault and left her seriously injured and fearing for her life.
In the film, Ailbhe chose to play herself. Following her own experience, she has become an advocate for the application of restorative justice in cases of serious crime, including sexual violence. The film is directed by Alan Gilsenan who is an award-winning Irish writer, film-maker and theatre director.

Annemieke holds a PhD in restorative justice and children’s rights and was a Board Member of the European Forum for Restorative Justice.
