Asylos is a UK-registered charity that provides free, bespoke Country of Origin Information (COI) research services to lawyers and NGOs representing asylum seekers worldwide. Since its establishment in 2010, Asylos has built a network of over 70 volunteer researchers fluent in 45 languages, with networks in countries of origin. These volunteers produce detailed reports to support asylum claims, ensuring that decisions are informed by accurate and up-to-date information. To date, Asylos has produced over 700 COI reports, contributing to positive outcomes in asylum cases across more than 20 countries. In addition to case-specific reports, Asylos publishes thematic research to address critical gaps in COI literature and offers free training webinars for charity caseworkers, legal representatives and COI researchers. These sessions cover core COI research skills as well as specialised topics such as disability-focused, statelessness-focused, and child-focused COI. Each year, Asylos also publishes a selection of commentaries on COI research produced by governments and intergovernmental organisations. These commentaries identify methodological shortcomings and provide recommendations for further research, helping to raise the quality of information relied upon in asylum decisions.
