Peace Direct

Peace Direct is an international charity dedicated to stopping violence around the world. They do this by empowering local peacebuilders to resolve conflict and build lasting peace for their communities. Established in 2004 and working across 14 countries (with 25 local partners), Peace Direct works to support and amplify voices of local civil society actors to the international community, and to shift power and resources in the peacebuilding system towards locally led efforts.

When war and conflict starts, life stops for ordinary people. Lives are shattered, and divisions grow between communities. The struggle to survive becomes all-consuming as access to basics like food, shelter, healthcare and education disappears, forcing people to endure unimaginable hardship every day. In this fractured reality, peace can feel hopeless.

Peace Direct believes that together we can fix this by doing things differently. By transferring control to local peacebuilders who can speak truth to power, tackle the root causes of conflict and deliver justice for their communities.
