GET IN TOUCHThe mission of Movies that Matter is to broaden the perspective on human rights. They use films to stimulate dialogue about a just society, to influence public opinion, and to motivate our target audiences to commit to human rights and a sustainable society.
Movies that Matter generate impact by touching people, providing insight, and raising questions. However, we never view film as a conclusive argument, but as the starting point for a process of opinion-forming. That’s why they always combine film screenings with in-depth programs: with after-talks, panel discussions, educational materials, or workshops. They do this both domestically and internationally, showcasing films from both the Netherlands and abroad.
Their core mission is to screen films about human rights and to promote such screenings. Movies that Matter fulfill the first core task by organizing the Movies that Matter Festival, providing educational activities, and organizing events. The second core task is their advisory work at home and abroad, the festival’s industry program, and supporting festivals abroad.
