On January 14th, The Hague Humanity Hub, and the Municipality of The Hague, hosted an informal meeting with Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya, leader of the Belarusian democratic movement and recipient of the Sakharov Prize. This gathering marked the conclusion of her official visit to the Netherlands and offered a meaningful opportunity to engage with members of the Belarusian diaspora in the country.
The event was initiated by a Hub member Ilya Shcharbitski with support of Deputy Mayor Marielle Vavier and Vincent Thepass, a representative of GroenLinks on the Hague City Council. Discussions centered on the upcoming so-called “elections” in Belarus, as well as The Hague’s continious support for Belarusians in their pursuit of democracy.
Jill Wilkinson of the Hague Humanity Hub expressed our support to Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya in her fight for free and fair electionshuman rights, and freedom. This gathering was a powerful exchange of ideas and solidarity and an example of our shared commitment to justice and peace.
