Only a few countries globally have a health system that is staffed with sufficient numbers of trained and motivated health professionals, backed by qualitative health information provision platforms, coordinated by a well-maintained health infrastructure, matched to the consumers’ health needs and abilities.
At least 400 million (young) people globally lack access to the most important health information and services and by 2030 an estimated shortage of 18 million health professionals is anticipated. At the same time, new diagnostics, devices, drugs and digital innovations are transforming how (young) people interact with the health sector. Therefore, innovative and evidence-based models that go beyond the traditional health sector response are necessary.
