Program Coordinator Feminist Climate Academy & Campaigns – ActionAid
Based in Amsterdam, ActionAid Netherlands works as a women’s rights organization towards a just world with a fair economy and a livable environment. Through their inclusive approach, together with women in the Global South, they strive for a strong position for women worldwide. From the Netherlands, they focus particularly on a fair energy transition and fair, sustainable raw materials supply chains. They lobby and influence politicians and businesses, and engage the Dutch population through campaigns on the themes of climate justice, Corporate Social Responsibility (ICSR), and raw materials, with women’s rights as the common thread.
One of their programs is the Feminist Climate Academy. Every autumn, they organize this together with partners for young people (18–30 years old) who are concerned about climate change and want to commit to a fair, green future. Over a period of six months, they learn from national and international experts about the various forms of climate (in)justice, why a feminist approach is necessary, and what solutions exist. In addition, they learn how to campaign and influence policy—skills they immediately put into practice by carrying out their own actions in small groups.
As Feminist Climate Academy Lead / Campaigner, you are the content and organizational owner of the Academy. You develop the program, coordinate its implementation, and personally train and mentor participants and action groups. In doing so, you help build a growing movement of young climate activists and connect global perspectives on climate justice with action in the Netherlands. During the months without Academy activities, you initiate and organize other campaigns and activities.
Your role:
- You are responsible for the planning, execution, monitoring, and reflection of the Feminist Climate Academy, and you oversee the budget.
- You coordinate with partner organizations and supervise two interns.
- You organize online and in-person interactive sessions, a training weekend, and a public event, and provide training on campaigning yourself.
- You guide action groups in designing and executing impactful actions.
- You build a growing community (approx. 125 participants per year) and maintain contact with alumni.
- Together with the marketer, you recruit new participants.
- You handle reporting and contact with donors, act as the point of contact for sponsors and grant providers, and write new applications together with colleagues.
- You contribute to other campaigns of ActionAid Netherlands and develop new campaigns together with colleagues — also within the international federation.
You have:
- At least 2 years of relevant work experience in program coordination;
- project management, campaigning and community building;
- experience with developing, organizing, and facilitating training sessions, workshops, events, or group processes;
- experience with mobilizing and guiding young people, volunteers, or social networks;
- knowledge of and affinity with feminism, climate justice, the energy transition, and civil society movements;
- knowledge of or experience with community organizing (building and mobilizing social movements);
- experience collaborating with partner organizations and various stakeholders;
- excellent oral and written communication in Dutch and English;
- Experience with fundraising, donor relations, and/or grant applications is a plus.
You are:
- inspiring; you know how to inspire groups and get them moving;
- independent, proactive and entrepreneurial;
- organizationally sensitive and strong in collaboration;
- creative and solution-oriented;
- strong in planning and maintaining an overview;
- hands-on and result-oriented;
- digitally skilled and interested in online communication and content creation;
- strong in building and maintaining networks;
- socially engaged and identifies with the feminist values of ActionAid.
ActionAid offers:
- a versatile and challenging position in an international work environment;
- a nice team and workplace in the heart of Amsterdam;
- time for and investment in customized training;
- a one-year contract with an option for extension subject to mutual enthusiasm;
- an appointment for 24 hours per week, with a start date to be agreed upon as soon as possible;
- a full-time gross monthly salary between €3,214 and €4,545 (based on 36 hours, depending on experience)
- a year-end bonus of 3.5%, pension contribution and travel allowance;
- a contribution towards telephone/home office costs;
- plenty of room for your own ideas and creativity;
- Office days on Monday and Thursday.
