UNOCHA is looking for a volunteer Peer Helper to contribute to building a structured micro-learning library within the existing SharePoint/Microsoft Teams space (“Peer Helper library”).

This Online Volunteering assignment is hosted by the Staff Welfare Unit (SWU), Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), in Geneva. The assignment supports the SWU Peer Helper Network of OCHA staff volunteers by building a structured micro-learning library within the existing SharePoint/Microsoft Teams space (“Peer Helper library”). The Online Volunteer will work under the guidance of a designated SWU focal point and will deliver outputs on a weekly basis for review. The work is deliverables-based and designed for completion within eight (8) weeks.

To develop a small, practical and reusable Peer Helper Library in Sharepoint/Microsoft Teams that supports peer helpers with consistent, culturally appropriate learning materials and simple engagement tools (read–reflect–quiz). The library will help peer helpers strengthen core skills and align on yearly focus themes.

Responsibilities:

  1. Propose a simple information architecture for the Teams Peer Helper Library (folders/pages, naming conventions, and navigation).
  2. Curate and standardize learning materials for selected core themes (recommended: Active Listening and Empathy), ensuring accessibility and cultural appropriateness.
  3. For each theme, develop a micro-learning set following a consistent structure: curated resources, reflection prompts, and a short quiz.
  4. Draft hub/library-ready text and short descriptions for each resource (purpose, key takeaway, estimated time to read/watch).
  5. Create a simple, low-effort engagement model for peer helpers (how to use the library individually and in group settings).
  6. Prepare a short handover note / SOP for SWU on how to update the library (adding/replacing resources, versioning, and quality checks).
  7. Incorporate SWU feedback iteratively and maintain a clear tracker of what was added/updated
