Ready to Explore: Green & Just Futures has officially kicked off!

9 October, 2025

On the first of October, participants of the Ready to Explore: Green & Just Futures programme, started their 3-month journey to connect their personal passions with real change in the world.

How to contribute to a greener and fairer world

The question how one can contribute to a greener and fairer world paints the backdrop of the programme. We were joined by a diverse group, a few recent graduates, some looking to make a career change, others trying to explore their time after work, and some even interested in moving countries, but all sharing the same curiosity of how to work towards a more sustainable future.

A collaboration between PLNT and The Hague Humanity Hub, the project was created to support changemakers to work on their professional vision and next steps in the field of climate justice.

The Kick-Off

The Kick-Off meeting was the start of their individual journey, shaped by their own goals and interests, while also working together as a collective. Betty Huerta, the moderator of the session and behind the PLNT collaboration, left no space for doubt regarding the collective collaboration, despite its focus on self-growth: “The programme is a community, the programme is you.

Each single participant entered that room focused on their own goals, yet they all left the session with a support network to explore their questions together. A few ideas are already being brought to life, such as an upcoming app to fight food waste, an elaboration of a beekeeping database, a long-term plan for an NGO to reduce plastic production and many other exciting projects.

The Horizon Architecture

The methodology behind the programme is the Horizon Architecture and revolves around three main pillars: the individual and self-driven work they pour into the programme, the complexity of simultaneous issues, and the time integration, as thinking of the past, present and future at the same time.

The struggle with time is a common one among the participants, as they asked questions related to how much time they can pour into climate justice action, how to prioritise or more personal, such as “where am I and where will I be next?”. Through short-term and long-term goals and some prioritising, they faced this anxiety together.

The Horizon Architecture also helped them map their current work interests, milestones and manage it between different areas, an essential task as there are many different  directions you can go, and as one of the participants clearly put: “it is hard to get them all to connect sometimes.

The journey continues, one week after the Kick-Off, participants had the chance to meet Jacob Baraza, as part of The Handshakes programme. The next step is the Get Things Done session, a chance to gather, focus on ongoing tasks or even just avoid procrastination with the support of the community.

We are excited to be part of this journey and help the participants to find their own path and bring their vision to reality.

During this programme, these changemakers will:

  • Clarify their professional vision
  • Build a personal roadmap
  • Engage in peer exchange and group reflection
  • Connect with climate justice professionals and organisations

Did you know that you can join some sessions even when you’re not part of this group? Put the Get Things Done Sessions and The Handshakes in your calendar.
