Opportunity!

This role offers a unique opportunity for an expert in quantitative data management and analysis, who also holds an understanding of industrial decarbonisation. If you enjoy working with data and understanding the story it tells, while collaborating closely with the campaigners and policy advisors that drive change, this role is for you.

In this new role as European Steel Data Analyst, you will be working in SteelWatch as an integral part of the secretariat of the European Fossil-Free Steel Network (EFFSN), a coalition of environmental groups and think tanks committed to transitioning the European steel industry from fossil fuels to renewable energy.

The ideal candidate will be an excellent analyst and natural collaborator who combines an understanding of industrial decarbonisation with an aptitude for driving change through data and analysis.

Summary of the role

As European Steel Data Analyst, you’ll be employed by SteelWatch but work as part of the European Fossil-Free Steel Network (EFFSN) secretariat. You’ll be the data expert supporting over 90 environmental organisations across Europe, building the evidence base needed to accelerate steel sector decarbonisation.

This remote-working, Europe-based role combines technical expertise with real-world impact. You’ll manage critical datasets on European steel plants, analyse industry trends, and create compelling data visualisations that inform campaigns and policy decisions. Your work will directly support efforts to transition Europe’s steel industry from coal to clean energy.
