Board Member | Foodrise EU

The Hague

01-09-2025

Foodrise EU is seeking two new members to join our Board of Trustees (voluntary, non-remunerated positions). As a young and dynamic campaigning organisation working at the intersection of food, climate and justice, we are entering a critical phase of growth and consolidation. We are therefore looking for passionate individuals with bold vision, strategic insight and experience in one or more of the following areas: fundraising, advocacy (particularly EU), legal and governance, HR, or campaigning and communications.

About Foodrise EU

Foodrise EU was founded in 2022 as the continental branch of the UK-based Feedback (now Foodrise). Together, we campaign to transform the food system: exposing destructive corporate practices, holding governments and businesses to account, and building just and resilient alternatives. There are currently five people on the Foodrise EU team.

Our mission is to expose the root causes of injustice in the food system, and fight for systemic solutions that promote health, sustainability and fairness. We conduct research, run campaigns, engage with governments and corporations, and amplify the voices of local communities and citizens that can make the change. In the EU, we have a strong track record of creating impact and shifting narratives on under-addressed issues such as fish farming, food waste, and industrial livestock.

The role of the Board

The Board of Trustees provides oversight, guidance and accountability to the Executive Director and team. Together, the board ensures  that the strategy, finances and operations of Foodrise EU are sound and in line with our mission and values.

The board currently consists of four members (see their bio on the website) and meets four times a year. Trustees are also invited to participate in strategic retreats once or twice annually.

As a growing foundation (ANBI status in the Netherlands), we are committed to building a diverse, equitable and inclusive board.

What we are looking for

We are looking for new board members who can help guide Foodrise EU through its next phase of growth and impact. You may bring experience in:

  • Fundraising and donor engagement – with experience in strengthening financial resilience and developing strategic funding partnerships;
  • Policy, advocacy and lobbying – particularly at the EU level, with a sound sense of political strategy and influence;
  • Law, governance and HR – helping ensure the legal integrity of our organisation, including Dutch and EU regulatory frameworks and human resource management;
  • Campaigning, movement building or strategic communications – with insight into how to shape public debate, mobilise people and amplify underrepresented voices.

What we offer

  • A role in a value-driven organisation at the cutting edge of food system transformation
  • Opportunities to shape strategy, support a growing team, and strengthen impact
  • A warm and committed team with space for joy, creativity and radical honesty
