DESCRIPTION:On Thursday 2 October\, Cultural Emergency Response and the Smithsonian Cultural Rescue Initiative invite you to an evening of storytelling from 16:30 – 18:30 at Diligentia in The Hague (Lange Voorhout 5\, The Hague). Hosted by Başak Layiç\, Storyteller and Artistic Director of Rederij Lampeduza\, six cultural heritage practitioners will share powerful personal stories that show how heritage is about people\, how it brings communities together in times of crisis\, and how it inspires resilience and hope. \nThe loss of cultural heritage can feel like losing part of yourself. Preserving it supports well-being\, anchors communities\, and helps them recover with dignity and identity. \nStorytelling is not only a form of heritage\, it is also a way of protecting it. By sharing stories\, we keep memory alive\, strengthen resilience\, and remind the world why culture matters in times of crisis. At When Heritage Speaks: Voices from the Field\, cultural practitioners working in challenging circumstances will share why heritage\, and its protection\, remain vital. \nJoin us to hear stories from Lebanon\, Egypt\, India\, Ecuador\, Puerto Rico\, and Ukraine.
