INSO is looking for a Software Engineer to develop the INSO Portal, a core platform that brings together INSO’s digital services into a single, coherent experience.
Software Engineer – International NGO Safety Organisation
Founded in 2011, the International NGO Safety Organization (INSO) is an international NGO that supports humanitarian aid workers by establishing safety coordination platforms in insecure contexts. INSO provides registered NGOs with a range of free services, including real-time incident tracking, analytical reports, safety-related data and mapping, crisis management support, staff orientations, and training. INSO provides daily support to more than 1,500 NGOs operating in 24 of the world’s most insecure countries. INSO is registered in the Netherlands, with its headquarters located in The Hague, a city renowned for its international focus on peace and justice.
The INSO Portal
The INSO Portal is a core platform that brings together INSO’s digital services into a single, coherent experience. It serves NGO partners, INSO field teams, and HQ staff, ensuring that users can securely access the right information, tools, and services when they need them.
The Portal is a long-term product, not a one-off system. It requires careful design, ongoing evolution, and engineers who take ownership of both technical quality and user experience.
In This Role, You Will
- Build – Design and develop features for the INSO Portal, focusing on reliability, security, and usability. You will work across backend and frontend components and be involved throughout the full life cycle of your work.
- Own – Take responsibility for the systems you build, from design decisions through to production and maintenance. You will help shape technical direction and improve existing solutions where needed.
- Collaborate – Work closely with other engineers and operational teams to deliver solutions that reflect real-world needs.
- Evolve – Contribute to improving engineering practices, architecture, and standards as the platform grows and requirements change.
