SUMMARY:Peace Finance Workshop 1 - From Principles to Practice
DESCRIPTION:About this session\nThis two-hour workshop takes forward the Humanity Hub’s Investing in Peace initiative by introducing the principles and practice of Peace Finance – exploring how finance\, innovation\, and collaboration can actively strengthen peace and resilience. \n  \nPeace Finance starts from a simple idea: every financial or organisational decision affects trust\, inclusion\, and stability. While some organisations work in fragile or conflict-affected settings\, others focus on inequality\, governance\, human rights\, or social innovation – all of which influence how societies sustain stability and inclusion. Peace-positive investments put this principle into practice: they seek not only financial or developmental returns but also measurable contributions to cooperation\, legitimacy\, and resilience in the communities they touch. \n  \nThrough short examples and guided discussion\, participants will explore how these ideas can translate into practical approaches for reducing risk\, strengthening legitimacy\, and unlocking new forms of partnership. \n\nLed by practitioners: Hear directly from professionals applying Peace Finance in practice – from fund design and social enterprise to governance and impact innovation.\nInteractive and applied: Work through real examples\, group discussions\, and short design challenges that turn abstract concepts into concrete tools.\nA first step in a series: This workshop marks the beginning of a broader learning journey on Peace Finance\, with future sessions offering opportunities for deeper exchange\, co-creation\, and practice.\n\n  \nWhy this workshop\nPeace Finance provides a way to connect financial and development choices with the conditions that make societies more stable\, inclusive\, and resilient. As the boundaries between finance\, innovation\, and peacebuilding continue to blur\, organisations in every sector face new opportunities – and responsibilities – to align their decisions with peace-positive outcomes. \nThis workshop offers an accessible starting point to that conversation\, inviting participants from across civil society\, policy\, innovation\, and finance to explore together how their work can contribute to long-term stability and shared prosperity. \n  \nWho is this workshop for?\n\nCivil-society organisations\, NGOs & INGOs – strengthening inclusion\, accountability\, and social impact through collaborative\, locally grounded approaches.\nInnovators & PeaceTech professionals – exploring how digital tools\, data\, and new business models can enhance transparency\, participation\, and trust.\nPeacebuilding & development practitioners – linking programmatic work to investment opportunities that build resilience and reduce fragility.\nPolicy & governance advisers – integrating peace considerations into national\, local\, or corporate decision-making frameworks.\nImpact & finance actors – from donors and DFIs to ESG investors\, looking for strategies that de-risk operations and connect capital flows with long-term stability.\n\n  \n	Register your attendance online This link opens in a new tab\n Register your attendance in-person This link opens in a new tab

SUMMARY:One-day conference Hague Appeal for Future Generations: Co-creating EcoPeace
DESCRIPTION:The one-day International Conference “Hague Appeal for Future Generations. Co-creating EcoPeace” refers to the centennial of the First Hague Peace Conference in 1899. One hundred years later\, the “Hague Appeal for Peace 1999” was one of the biggest Peace events ever organised in The Hague. The one-day conference on Saturday the 27th of September offers a human-scale\, creative platform for reflections as well as initiatives toward action and collaboration on how civil society (burgerinitiatief) can contribute to keeping the spirit of The Hague: City of Peace and Justice high and help protecting institutes for international justice. We support the “LAW Not War” campaign. Beyond legal innovation including advocating climate justice\, we need peacebuilding capacity to find real time as well as long term solutions for the alarming poly-crisis of our time. Planetary Service for the wellbeing of future generations opens a long-term perspective on peacebuilding volunteerism and social entrepreneurship by YOUTH as our common ground. Let us co-create EcoPeace. \nWith a keynote by Neshan Gunasekera\, Sri Lanka\, CEO of the World Future Council and panelists including Simome Filippini\, NVVN (Dutch UN Alliance); research activist Kees Klomp\, author of Ecoliberalism and founder AGENCY!; Kees Matthijssen\, retired UN Peacekeeper; Thea Hilhorst\, professor in Humanitarian Studies and Natasha Hulst\, Schumacher Institute USA and Labs in Netherlands / Voedselpark Amsterdam; as well as Young participants of the Planetary Service initiative with Siddharth Jain as Coordinator. \nThe one-day conference will be concluded by adopting the Hague Appeal for Future Generations. Co-creating EcoPeace guided by Right Livelihood Laureate and Peace activist Alyn Ware\, New Zealand. \nPlans will be worked out concretely in a Planetary Service Co-design Workshop on Tuesday 30 September. With a public social gathering at Vreedehuis\, 15.30-16.30. \n	Register here This link opens in a new tab\n	\n

SUMMARY:Just Peace Dialogue: Stemmen uit de stad
DESCRIPTION:Dit is een Nederlandstalig evenement/This event will be held in Dutch. She served at the Dutch Embassies in Zimbabwe and Costa Rica (including Honduras\, El Salvador\, Guatemala and Nicaragua). She has been posted at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in The Hague as Director Sub-Sahara Africa and Ambassador Women’s Rights and Gender Equality. \nHer grandfathers’ resistance activities during WOII and his subsequent experiences as Prisoner of War have motivated Mette throughout her educational and professional career. She chose to focus her Master European Public Administration on international relations and international law. Internships at the Stockholm Peace Research Institute\, Asser Institute for International Law and the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) led her to apply for the diplomatic training course in 1998. \nHer commitment to human rights and human dignity for all inspired her to consistently seek positions at Dutch MFA in the field of governance\, human rights\, social justice and international cooperation. When Mette resigned from MFA in 2022\, she had been working zealously in leadership positions for over 10 years. Known for being a ‘modern leader’ within the diplomatic service\, her leadership style had been characterised by a drive to foster thriving teams that realise true differences for others in the world. \nMette’s resignation from MFA followed the manifestation of unacknowledged complex (intergenerational) trauma. Drawing from her personal healing journey and her diplomatic career\, she founded the social enterprise IMind2Lead in 2022. Her recent education in coaching\, trauma\, mental health and well-being at Standford and NICABM have deepened her understanding and commitment. Mette’s belief is that the current uncertain\, polarised and complex world needs a different kind of leadership. Leadership that is being practised from a healthy\, open and conscious mind/body/heart congruence. With IMind2Lead through coaching and community she has been passionately guiding ngo\, public\, diplomatic and corporate mission-driven leaders towards ‘whole leadership’ for change. \nWhat is The Handshake?\nA career inspiration series spotlighting leading voices in peace the justice ecosystem. Through honest conversations and personal stories\, The Handshake offers an inside look at real career journeys\, beyond titles and job descriptions. \nParticipants can engage directly\, asking their pressing questions about career journeys\, field developments\, and the key skills needed for future professionals. For those who find the peace and justice sector daunting or do not know where to begin\, these conversations provide practical insights and help set realistic expectations for entering the field. \nRead about previous editions of The Handshake here \n	Register Here This link opens in a new tab
