DESCRIPTION:This conference brings together scholars\, practitioners\, journalists\, and artists to examine the enduring legacy of the “war on terror” and its implications for the future. Nearly twenty-five years after its inception\, the War on Terror continues to shape global politics\, law\, and society . The discussion will explore both continuities and transformations in this legacy\, including patterns of militarisation\, dehumanisation\, legal exceptionalism\, and shifting forms of intervention. \nLooking ahead\, the event also considers how international law\, media\, and the arts can respond to these challenges. It creates space for dialogue on the role of artistic expression in advancing justice—particularly in contexts where legal remedies remain limited or contested. \nSet against ongoing global tensions and debates around accountability\, human rights\, and the rule of law\, the conference invites participants to reflect on key questions: What are the strengths and limits of legal frameworks in addressing contemporary conflicts? How do evolving narratives of security shape international law? And what role can creative and media practices play alongside legal efforts in promoting justice? \nThe programme will be followed by the launch of the exhibition Art/Justice by Abu Zubaydah\, presenting works by the Guantánamo detainee and offering a powerful artistic perspective on detention\, accountability\, and the pursuit of justice. \n	Register here
