SUMMARY:Duurzaam Ontbijt (Sustainable Breakfast)
DESCRIPTION:  \nThe Hague is a city made up of diverse communities\, each with its own characteristics and ambitions. At the same time\, the city faces the urgent challenge of preparing for ongoing climate change while minimizing its own contribution to global warming. In 2024\, more than 100 organisations\, companies\, and resident groups\, together with the municipality\, signed the The Hague Climate Agreement as a contribution to this effort. \nThe shared ambition is to create a climate-neutral and socially resilient city. Achieving this is only possible if as many communities as possible commit to realising this ambition in a fair and just way. The key question is: how can we grow a strong “community of communities” in The Hague that is capable of accelerating the transformation toward a climate-just city in the coming years? \nThis question will be at the heart of the Sustainable Breakfast on Wednesday\, 10 December 2025\, coinciding with Human Rights Day. Together\, we will explore answers and opportunities. To inspire discussion\, Kees Klomp\, author of Ecoliberalism\, will introduce a transformative narrative that can help build a strong community of communities. Following this\, we will engage with various local change-makers about what is needed—and possible—to shape and implement such a transformative story. We will conclude by drawing key takeaways with speakers and participants\, identifying next steps toward climate justice. \n  \nProgram\n08:15–09:00 – Arrival\, vegan breakfast\, and welcome\n09:00–09:30 – Kees Klomp on the urgency and opportunities to build a strong community of communities on the path to a climate-just city\n09:30–09:45 – Joris Wijsmuller on initiating a Haags Lab with Duurzaam Den Haag and harder-to-reach groups to collaboratively work on climate justice\n09:45–10:00 – Marija Pop Trajkova (The Hague Humanity Hub) and Dr. Nadia Sánchez Castillo – Winckels (Climate Legal Consulting) on fostering a growing Hague community around climate justice through the Climate Deal\n10:00–10:15 – Gerrit Jan van ’t Veen and Elly Rijnierse on developing a vision for the Hague Donut\, inspired by Kate Raworth’s ideas for a just economy within ecological boundaries\n10:15–10:45 – Discussion with speakers and audience on next steps to strengthen a “community of communities” and realize a collective transformative narrative for a climate-just city\n10:45–11:30 – Informal networking and follow-up conversation\nRegistration\nRegistration is required due to catering arrangements. \n  \n	Register here This link opens in a new tab
