SUMMARY:Municipality The Hague - Lecture on "Why European Security is Human Security"
DESCRIPTION:Overview\n\n\n\nThe Municipality of The Hague will be hosting a special lecture at The Hague Humanity Hub on “Why European Security is Human Security”. The lecture will be held by Tara Verma This link opens in a new tab who is a Visiting Fellow Foreign Policy\, of the Brookings Institution’s Center on the United States and Europe This link opens in a new tab. She will explore the developments in Europe’s reckoning of its own role on the international stage\, and the role it has to endorse in making the multilateral order work. \n\n\n\nLecture Road Map\n\n\n\nThis lecture will address strategic shifts in European thinking since the beginning of the Covid pandemic\, as well as ramifications of European foreign policy decision-making and consequences for the general public. With the advent of social media and the information age\, citizens and decisions-makers are provided with news in real-time. The two key challenges for Europe and European citizens now are to ensure that in an increasingly fragmented world\, the European voice distinguishes itself as a convening force for allies and partners\, as well as to answer to its citizens’ preoccupations. How Europe addresses the tension between internal and external challenges – after Brexit\, the 2015 migration crisis\, after the shock of a Donald Trump administration\, Covid\, Russia’s war on Ukraine\, and tragic developments in the Middle East – will be an indicator of its willingness and capacity to act. \n\n\n\nProgram\n\n\n\n\n16.00 Doors open\n\n\n\n16.30 Opening remarks by Mariëlle Vavier          (Deputy Mayor for International Affairs\, City of The Hague)\n\n\n\n16.35 Lecture by Tara Varma\n\n\n\n17.05 Q&A  \n\n\n\n17.30 Reception in the Humanity Hub Café\n\n\n\n\n\nSign Up Here! SUMMARY:Peace&Justice Café #9: Humanitarian Innovation
DESCRIPTION:Overview\n\n\n\nThe peace&justice café is The Hague Humanity Hub’s premier networking event series for cross-sectoral connection and collaboration for a more peaceful and just world. This event brings together peacebuilders\, justice innovators\, researchers\, humanitarians\, impact entrepreneurs\, policy makers and other changemakers from The Hague and around the world.  By strengthening connections\, we can come up with concrete solutions to today’s complex and urgent problems and thus increase collective impact.  It is a hybrid event\, some sessions will only be available to attendees joining online! \n\n\n\nHumanitarian Innovation\n\n\n\nJoin us in the next edition of the peace&justice café as we delve into the pressing theme of Humanitarian Innovation. In a world grappling with increasing humanitarian challenges\, it has become imperative to innovate our approach towards addressing these crises. Seeking to address the evolving needs of affected populations and the complex nature of humanitarian crises\, Humanitarian Innovation has become a central focus in reevaluating the overall humanitarian policy agenda. During this next peace&justice café\, we aim to facilitate an open conversation about the current state of affairs of Humanitarian innovation\, the challenges faced\, and the necessary steps to advance humanitarian innovation. The conversation will be facilitated by engaging roundabout sessions each tackling humanitarian innovation from a different perspective. These roundabouts provide an opportunity to dive into specific aspects of humanitarian innovation and connect with participants interested in similar topics. We aim to create an environment that encourages open dialogue and collaboration among diverse stakeholders representing different perspectives in the humanitarian innovation field.  \n\n\n\nCall for Contributors\n\n\n\nWe are looking for roundabout hosts to help co-create the content of the peace&justice café.
