SUMMARY:Excel Your Data Analysis: Harnessing the Power of Pivot Tables
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a Brown Bag Lunch where we will explore how to use pivot tables in Excel to better analyse large amounts of data. Pivot tables are a powerful tool that can help you quickly summarise and analyse complex data sets\, and this session with Julia Boot\, the Hague Humanity Hub’s Finance Manager\, will provide valuable techniques to help you get the most out of them. \n\n\n\nSuitable for all levels of Excel users\, this session will cover the basics of pivot tables\, including how to create them and how to use them to gain new insights from your data. The Humanity Hub will provide a generic data set to demonstrate how pivot tables can be used\, but Julia is also happy to advise on how you might use pivot tables for your own data sets. \n\n\n\nThe session will take place on Tuesday\, 25 April\, from 12:00 to 13:00 in the Hub café\, and attendees can either bring their own lunch or buy lunch from the Humanity Hub café. Don’t miss this opportunity to learn from one of our own experts and network with fellow members over lunch! \n\n\n\nPlease note that this event is for members of the Humanity Hub only. If you are not a member but would be interested in membership\, please contact community@humanityhub.net. \n\n\n\n\nSign up Here

SUMMARY:Asser InstituteWorkshop: Critical Reflections on AI Ethics Principles and Societal Inputs for the Governance of Military AI
DESCRIPTION:In recent years\, ‘AI ethics principles’ have emerged as an instrument for the governance of military applications of artificial intelligence (AI). These documents can be developed by groups of experts and policy makers\, or through experimentation or consultation with the general public or relevant stakeholders. Each initiative proposes a list of ‘principles’\, values\, guidelines or descriptions of best practices that can be action guiding and promote responsible design\, development and use of military AI. While these initiatives provide frameworks against which decisions and practices of individuals\, institutions and states can be assessed\, their normative role is unclear\, and they remain legally non-binding.   \n\n\n\nWhat is the place and utility of AI ethics principles in juxtaposition to existing legal and other normative frameworks? What roles can or should the general public or relevant stakeholders play in the creation of these lists of principles? What are the social and cultural implications of creating ‘lists’ to promote responsible behaviour? And what conceptual and practical issues should be considered in the development of AI principles?

SUMMARY:Jobtech Alliance Webinar: Introducing the New Jobtech Quality of Work Measurement Tool
DESCRIPTION:The rise of digital labour platforms has significant potential to create new work opportunities for youth\, but it also comes with risks. Questions remain about what a ‘good’ job really means in the jobtech space. To-date\, measurement has focused mainly on the practices and policies of the platforms themselves. While important\, the reality is that people are engaged across multiple platforms\, and the outcomes they experience depend on their personal circumstances\, and labour market needs. So what are the most important criteria for understanding users’ dignity\, pay and satisfaction across the digitally-enabled work they do? Building on a collaboration called the Jobtech Learning Lab\, the International Labour Organization’s Systems Change Initiative\, the Challenge Fund for Youth Employment (CFYE)\, and the Jobtech Alliance have developed and piloted a tool for assessing job quality outcomes associated with jobtech platforms in Africa from the perspective of users. This webinar will present the tool and the initial findings from piloting with three platforms. \n\n\n\nSign up here or via the button below! \n\n\n\n\nMore information and Signup

DESCRIPTION:Join The Hague Effective Altruism for a Hub Night: a new event format where we bring together interesting speakers and ideas to The Hague Humanity Hub! On April 26\, we’ll be joined by Tobias Leenaert\, a speaker\, writer\, and educator who blogs as The Vegan Strategist.
