SUMMARY:Hague Talks: How to use Local Talent in Standing up for Climate Solutions
DESCRIPTION:Climate change is one of the most significant issues of our time and many feel compelled to stand up and act in response to the increasing climate crisis. This HagueTalks is about tapping into people’s strengths and ability to act in the face of increasing climate insecurities. How can we unlock the potential of community engagement as a catalyst for action towards climate resilience? Three climate action talks will provide distinct approaches to local action: from a young female lawyer in Hargeisa\, Somaliland; a multimedia climate artivist from Australia\, and a young peacebuilder based in the Netherlands. Their Talks will focus on concrete action\, what they have learned what works. Silver linings throughout these talks will be the importance of experiencing a sense of belonging to the community and recognizing the dynamics that support change \n\n\n\nSpeakers: \n\n\n\nHana Daud Abdi – Founder of the Somali Women in Law\, Human Rights Activist. Awarded “young person of the year” in 2019\,  IDLO Program Coordinator (confirmed) \n\n\n\nGregg – an Australian born\, multi-disciplinary\, multimedia artist who recently launch his YouTube channel Gregg The Artivist (confirmed) \n\n\n\nTBC – United Network of Young Peacebuilders (UNOY) \n\n\n\nModerator: Messina Laurette Manirakiza\, KPSRL Programming Officer\, with a background in Human Rights Law\, transitional justice and  gender in (post)conflict and fragile settings \n\n\n\n\nMore information and sign-up This link opens in a new tab
