SUMMARY:KPSRL & Propel - Exploring the Role of Tools for Programmatic Learning
DESCRIPTION:Overview \n\n\n\nThe Programmatic Learning Instrument (PLI) is a funding instrument of Hub member the Knowledge Platform Security & Rule of Law (KPSRL) to support programmatic learning across security and rule of law programming. As part of the PLI\, the KPSRL is currently running pilots and commissioning a study to enhance their understanding of how approaches to programmatic learning can and should be structured to effectively contribute to quality and impact of programmes. This joint research endeavour seeks to deepen the understanding of using tools – such as Propel – within the realm of the Security and Rule of Law (SRoL) sector and their role for programmatic learning. \n\n\n\nFocus Questions \n\n\n\nWhat role do tools play in the SRoL sector’s programmatic and organisational learning? \n\n\n\nHow can the integration of digital tools\, including Propel\, within the PLI framework be optimised for enhanced learning\, collaboration\, and impactful outcomes? \n\n\n\nBy participating in this project\, you will have the chance to:  \n\n\n\n\nExchange Insights: Collaborate with peers on the topic of programmatic learning and innovative approach to learning\, specifically in the SRoL sector to exchange ideas and insights.\n\n\n\nDeepen Understanding: Gain a profound understanding of both organisational and programmatic learning. During this first session\, you can contribute your own learning questions that you have wanted to uncover for us to investigate throughout this project.\n\n\n\nExplore Tools: Discover how complementary tools like Propel and approaches used in the Programmatic Learning Instrument can support learning processes. We will invite you to follow along with our progress and explore the findings with us.\n\n\n\n\n\nRegister Here! This link opens in a new tab

SUMMARY:Unshakable Sounds: Syrian Women’s Struggle for Rights and Accountability
DESCRIPTION:Overview: \n\n\n\nThis event is dedicated to bringing attention to the hardships faced by Syrian women during the conflict in Syria. They have suffered from severe injustices\, including being killed\, imprisoned\, and subjected to sexual violence. Highlights of the event include unveiling a new report by the Syrian Network for Human Rights\, which explores the effects of these injustices on women\, their strength in adversity\, what kind of help they need\, and how the global community can assist. The event will also feature a special exhibition of portraits focusing on women who have gone missing to underline the ongoing problem of enforced disappearances in Syria and how it affects the return of refugees. \n\n\n\nFocus Questions: \n\n\n\n\n> How did the systematic human rights violations; including killing\, arrest\, and sexual violence\, affect women’s lives in Syria? What does the horrifying scope of those violations tell us about the nature of the armed conflict and its implications on the future of women in Syria? \n\n\n\n> How did some women in Syria manage to stay steadfast\, overcome the challenges they faced\, and even achieve considerable success? \n\n\n\n> What are the measures needed to support survivor women\, especially in terms of treating the long-term effects of sexual violence and the traumas induced by detention and enforced disappearance? \n\n\n\n> How can the international community\, including organizations and governments\, effectively respond to the violations against women in Syria? What role can the international community play to prevent more violations? \n\n\n\n> In light of the conclusive evidence on the violations committed against women primarily by Syrian regime forces and other parties as well\, what steps can be taken to bring about accountability for these violations? \n\n\n\n> As we look into the future\, what are the prospects of protecting and promoting women’s rights in Syria? How can local and international efforts create a safer and more just environment for Syrian women? \n\n\n\n\nSpeakers: \n\n\n\nModerator: Razan Brghol – Head of Program\, Baytna \n\n\n\nMarie Forestier – Senior Syria Advisor\, European Institute of Peace (EIP)   \n\n\n\nKathryne Bomberger – Director-General\, International Commission on Missing Persons (ICMP)  \n\n\n\nNicole Chayaa – Gender Focal Point at the Civil Society and Technical Cooperation Unit\, OHCHR  \n\n\n\nAlaa Aljizawi – Syrian woman activist and arrest & enforced disappearance survivor  \n\n\n\nFadel Abdulghany – Executive Director\, Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) \n\n\n\n\nSign Up Here! SUMMARY:Upinion & PAX - A Conversation with and about Syrian Refugees in Lebanon\, Türkiye\, and the Netherlands: a 360 view
DESCRIPTION:Overview: \n\n\n\nIn 2024\, Syrian refugees are more trapped than ever in an invisible ‘no man’s land’\, between the hammer and the anvil: a country to which they cannot return\, neighbouring countries that no longer want to receive them\, and European countries that are denying them entry in increasingly violent ways. The complete lack of solutions for Syrian refugees has sowed the seeds of a new refugee crisis\, with large numbers of Syrians leaving their host countries in an unsafe manner again in attempts to reach Europe. \n\n\n\nWhat do Syrians themselves\, spread across the region and Europe\, say about their experiences\, hopes and dreams\, and in terms of solutions? A debate from different angles\, including a book presentation by Willem Staes and the real-time involvement of Upinion’s online community of Syrian refugees in Lebanon and Türkiye. Space for further engagement\, book signing\, and drinks afterwards.  \n\n\n\nSpeakers: \n\n\n\nHani Al Rustum (Moderator) \n\n\n\n\nDiana Khayyata \n\n\n\nYasmin Hegazi\n\n\n\nWillem Staes \n\n\n\nNoor Lekkerkerker – Representing the Upinion online community of Syrians in Lebanon and Turkiye\n\n\n\n\n\nSign Up Here! SUMMARY:Piero Gandini - 'The Box' Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Overview \n\n\n\nJoin this dynamic\, interactive\, and entertaining 4-hour workshop hosted by Hub member Piero Gandini. The skills taught in this workshop are inspired by the following reflections: \n\n\n\nHow often have we been asked\, or have we asked others\, to think out of the box? \n\n\n\nHow often has somebody taught us to think out of the box? \n\n\n\nIs the box the cause of our thinking limitations? \n\n\n\nWhat is in that box? \n\n\n\nThe B❒X methodology physically works with a box on our heads while discovering what is in our box and how we can break in\, break out\, and break through the box to shine and reach higher goals. It is a fun way to go deep in some reflections and\, at the same time\, work on concrete goals as a result of the journey. \n\n\n\n*Are you a Hub member? If so\, you can join this workshop at a discounted price. You can email piero@pierogandini.com for more information! \n\n\n\n\nSign Up Here! This link opens in a new tab
