SUMMARY:#DemocracyDrinks: Political Developments in the Western Balkans
DESCRIPTION:Serbia’s elections and mass protests in Albania are raising new questions about the political direction of the Western Balkans. In Serbia\, elections could reshape the country’s political landscape\, while in Albania\, growing public mobilization is putting pressure on the government and raising questions about its political future. \nThis edition of #DemocracyDrinks looks at whether these developments could lead to a broader political shake-up in the region\, and what they could mean for democracy\, political stability\, and the EU integration of both countries. \nTogether with PRO International\, NSDE\, NHC\, PAX and the Albanians in the NL Foundation\, we will discuss these developments and what they tell us about the future of the Western Balkans. Speakers will be announced soon. Bring your questions! \nWhat are the #DemocracyDrinks? \n#DemocracyDrinks is an informal\, recurring conversation and networking series bringing together people working on democracy\, peace\, justice\, and democratic participation. \nThe format is intentionally simple: open\, dialogue-led conversations in a relaxed setting. #DemocracyDrinks The Hague provides space to connect across sectors\, test ideas\, explore emerging questions\, and reflect collectively on democratic challenges beyond formal panels or presentations. \nLaunched by Defend Democracy in Brussels in 2018\, #DemocracyDrinks now takes place in cities around the world. Editions in The Hague have brought together a diverse mix of practitioners from NGOs\, international institutions\, think tanks\, government\, and civil society. The Hague series is co-organised by the Netherlands Helsinki Committee (NHC)\, the Netherlands Institute for Multiparty Democracy (NIMD)\, and The Hague Humanity Hub (THHH). \nInterested in hosting your own edition? SUMMARY:#DemocracyDrinks x The Hague Justice Week -The Effects of a Shifting International Order
DESCRIPTION:  \n \nA discussion on The Effects of a Shifting International Order during the official networking event of The Hague Justice Week! \nWhat does peace and justice through law mean in the context of a shifting international order? \nJoin us for the official networking event of The Hague Justice Week 2026\, organised by the The Hague Humanity Hub\, the Netherlands Institute for Multiparty Democracy (NIMD)\, and the Netherlands Helsinki Committee (NHC). \nEighty years after the foundations of the international legal order were laid\, that order is shifting beneath us. Join us for an evening that connects the big geopolitical picture to everyday lives\, with people who have made it their mission to defend democracy on the world stage. \nWe are excited to share that we have an incredible line up planned for you.
