SUMMARY:Community Drinks: Voices & Visibility: Who gets heard in a crowded world?
DESCRIPTION:Connect\, share & learn about what different organisations are doing to make the world more peaceful and sustainable at the Community Drinks \nWhat if your next game-changing connection is just a drink away?\nJoin us for Community Drinks to wind down around a glass\, make new connections\, and get inspired by the spotlights of the evening. Hosted at The Hague Humanity Hub\, this is the place for you to get away from your busy schedule and enjoy after-hours with purposeful conversations. \nWhat can you expect?\nJoin the Community Drinks on Voices & Visibility: Who gets heard is a crowded world? from 17:30 to 19:00 for an evening of conversation\, reflection\, and connection around a question that sits at the heart of much of the peace and justice work happening in The Hague: who gets heard? \nIn a world with more voices\, stories\, crises\, and competing priorities than ever before\, being heard is not simply about having something to say. It is also about having access to the spaces\, platforms\, resources\, and decision-making processes that determine what receives attention. Thus\, questions like: Who gets invited into the room? Whose knowledge is considered credible? Who gets to tell the story? And why do some crises receive more attention\, resources\, and political response than others? Are deeply connected. \nWe will explore questions such as: \nWhat does it mean to have a voice and once someone has a voice\, who gets to tell their story and who controls the narrative?\nWhy do some crises receive significant media\, political\, and humanitarian attention while others remain largely invisible?\nAnd finally\, how can organisations ensure that local knowledge and lived experience genuinely shape decisions?\nThrough short speaker spotlights and an open discussion\, the evening will create space to exchange experiences\, challenge assumptions\, and consider how we can create more meaningful spaces for voices that are too often overlooked. \nWho are the speakers?\nThis edition of Community Drinks\, “Voices and Visibility: Who gets heard in a crowded world?” brings together different perspectives from across The Hague’s peace and justice ecosystem to explore three interconnected questions: \nThe speakers for this edition will be announced shortly before the event. We are bringing together complementary perspectives from across the peace and justice ecosystem\, exploring the relationship between voice\, power\, storytelling\, representation\, and visibility. \nRather than approaching the topic from a single discipline\, the conversation will connect experiences from different parts of the ecosystem and invite participants to reflect on how the decisions we make about who we listen to\, whose stories we share\, and what we choose to highlight are shaped and can shape what the international community ultimately understands and acts upon. \nWho is it for?\nIf you are interested in connecting with people and their work towards a more peaceful\, just and sustainable world\, this event is for you. Whatever your role or sector\, join Community Drinks to relax\, exchange perspectives\, and connect with this vibrant community committed to making the world more peaceful\, just and sustainable\, one conversation at a time. \nCome ready to share your perspective\, meet others working across the ecosystem\, and explore what it really takes to be heard—and listen to. \nPrivacy Policy\nThe Humanity Hub collects your name\, email\, and organization (if you have one) when you sign up for events\, so they can manage the event and tell you about future ones. If you want to receive the Hub newsletter\, or if you have food allergies (for events with food)\, the Hub will collect that too. SUMMARY:Community Drinks: AI & Humanity; Navigating Technology\, Ethics\, and Society
DESCRIPTION:  \n \nConnect\, share & learn about what different organisations are doing to make the world more peaceful and sustainable at the Community Drinks. \nWhat if your next game-changing connection is just a drink away? \nJoin us for Community Drinks to wind down around a glass\, make new connections\, and get inspired by the spotlights of the evening. Hosted at The Hague Humanity Hub\, this is the place for you to get away from your busy schedule and enjoy after-hours with purposeful conversations. \nWhat can you expect?\nArtificial Intelligence is no longer a technology of the future. It is already influencing how we work\, communicate\, make decisions\, share information\, and respond to complex social challenges. \nAcross humanitarian action\, peacebuilding\, international justice\, education\, media\, public policy\, and civil society\, AI is creating new possibilities. At the same time\, it raises urgent questions about ethics\, bias\, transparency\, accountability\, privacy\, trust\, and human oversight. \nJoin us on Thursday\, 17 September\, from 17:30 to 19:00\, for the September edition of The Hague Humanity Hub Community Drinks. \nUnder the theme “AI & Humanity: Navigating Technology\, Ethics\, and Society\,” this edition will explore the human dimension of Artificial Intelligence. Rather than approaching AI as a purely technical subject\, we will bring together perspectives from across technology\, research\, humanitarian action\, policy\, social innovation\, and civil society to consider how AI can be developed and used responsibly. \nThe question is no longer simply whether we should use AI\, but how we can use it in ways that support people\, strengthen institutions\, and contribute to more inclusive and accountable societies. \nTogether\, we will explore questions such as: \n\nWhat does a responsible AI look like in practice?\nCan AI improve humanitarian and peacebuilding efforts without compromising ethics?\nHow do we prevent AI from reinforcing existing inequalities?\nWhat responsibilities come with using AI across civil society and international organisations?\n\nThrough short speaker spotlights and open discussion\, the evening will create space for practical examples\, critical reflection\, and exchange across sectors. \nWho are the speakers? \n\nimpactID offers a secure\, purpose‑driven platform designed hand‑in‑hand with NGOs and foundations to make fundraising\, project management\, and results tracking simpler\, smarter\, and more human.\nExpertisecentrum Data-Ethiek is a training institute that helps government organisations get a grip on the ethics and social impact of AI and data-driven technology.\n\nMore speakers to be announced shortly. \nWho is it for? \nIf you are interested in connecting with people and their work towards a more peaceful\, just and sustainable world\, this event is for you. Whatever your role or sector\, join Community Drinks to relax\, exchange perspectives\, and connect with this vibrant community committed to making the world more peaceful\, just and sustainable\, one conversation at a time. \nDate: Thursday\, 17 September\nTime: 17:30–19:00\nLocation: The Hague Humanity Hub \nCome meet fellow professionals\, exchange perspectives\, and explore how technology and humanity can evolve together. \nWe look forward to welcoming you.

International justice does not exist in isolation. It is shaped by the intersection of law\, politics\, ethics\, and lived realities—and by the people who navigate these spaces every day. \nWe will explore questions such as: \n\nWhat can field-based experiences teach us about the limits and possibilities of international law?\nWhat role do informal communities and networks play in shaping careers\, collaborations\, and ideas in this space?\nWhat do you think the state of international law in 2026 tells us about where it’s heading next?\n\nWho are the speakers? \n\nThe Foundation Diaspora in Action for Human Rights and Democracy (DAHRD)\, aims to investigate\, advocate\, and engage on issues of Human Rights abuse and humanitarian crisis. SUMMARY:Community Drinks: Biodiversity in the City of Peace & Justice
DESCRIPTION:Connect\, share & learn about what different organisations are doing to make the world more peaceful and sustainable at the Community Drinks\n\nWhat if your next game-changing connection is just a drink away? \nJoin us for Community Drinks to wind down around a glass\, make new connections\, and get inspired by the spotlights of the evening. Hosted at The Hague Humanity Hub\, this is the place for you to get away from your busy schedule and enjoy after-hours with purposeful conversations. \nWhat can you expect?\nCome to the Hub on Thrusday\, April 16th\, between 17:00 and 19:00\, for a drink (or two) and meet professionals that think about the interconnectedness of ecosystems and global policies. \nFrom coastal dunes and migratory birds to urban gardens and pollinators\, biodiversity surrounds us—even in the heart of a global city like The Hague! As environmental pressures intensify worldwide\, conversations about how we protect and preserve the natural world are becoming increasingly urgent\, and they belong not only in laboratories and policy rooms but also in our communities. \nThe theme of ”Biodiversity & Preservation” encourages us to think about the interconnectedness of ecosystems\, societies\, and global policy. Biodiversity loss is not only an environmental challenge; it is deeply linked to human rights\, food security\, climate resilience\, and social stability. Protecting ecosystems means protecting communities and futures. \nJoin The April edition of the Community Drinks for a fruitful conversation that may spark collaborations\, inspire new perspectives\, or simply deepen our collective awareness of the living systems that sustain us. \nWe would like to explore some of the following questions through the selected spotlights for the evening: \n\nWhat does biodiversity mean in an urban city like The Hague\, and how can cities become spaces that actively support ecological diversity?\nHow are local ecosystems\, from the North Sea coastline to urban green spaces\, changing\, and what can communities do to help protect them?\nWhat role can residents\, civil society organizations\, and international institutions in The Hague play in preserving biodiversity at both local and global levels?\nHow can urban planning\, architecture\, and public spaces contribute to healthier ecosystems and more biodiversity-friendly cities?\nHow can international policy conversations taking place in The Hague connect more directly to local environmental action?\nAnd finally\, how can we foster a stronger sense of connection between people\, place\, and the natural systems that sustain life in and around our city?\n\nThrough short spotlights and open discussion\, the evening aims to create space for reflection\, inspiration\, and collaboration across disciplines and communities. \nWho are the speakers? \n\nGreenAnt\nGreenAnt is a climate-tech company leveraging satellite data and artificial intelligence to tackle environmental risks. They focus on providing cutting-edge solutions for climate risk management\, disaster response\, and sustainability analysis.\nOne Acre Fund\nOne Acre Fund works with 5.6 million smallholder farmer households to equip them with the supplies and training they need to thrive. They put Farmers First in everything they do\, helping them grow more food\, plant more trees\, and earn more money from their harvests.\nSpace4Good\nSpace4Good is a team of impact-driven data scientists\, remote sensing & GIS experts\, software developers as well as environmental and urban planners using their unique skills and experience for social and environmental impact.\n\nWho is it for?\nIf you are interested in connecting with people and their work towards a more peaceful\, just and sustainable world\, this event is for you. Whatever your role or sector\, join Community Drinks to relax\, exchange perspectives\, and connect with this vibrant community committed to making the world more peaceful\, just and sustainable\, one conversation at a time. \nPrivacy Policy \nThe Humanity Hub collects your name\, email\, and organization (if you have one) when you sign up for events\, so they can manage the event and tell you about future ones. SUMMARY:Community Drinks | Picture Power: How Stories Shape Change
DESCRIPTION:What if your next game-changing connection is just a drink away?\nJoin us for Community Drinks to wind down around a glass\, make new connections\, and get inspired by the spotlights of the evening. Hosted at The Hague Humanity Hub\, this is the place for you to get away from your busy schedule and enjoy after-hours with purposeful conversations. \nWhat can you expect?\nCome to the Hub on Thrusday\, March 19th\, between 17:00 and 19:00\, for a drink (or two) and meet professionals using storytelling to advocate for\, and drive\, positive change. \nIn a city like The Hague\, where dialogue\, justice\, and diplomacy shape the global stage\, visual advocacy and storytelling offer a powerful way to humanize complex issues. Images\, maps\, data visualizations\, and narrative design can make institutional processes more approachable\, bringing clarity to subjects that might otherwise feel abstract or distant. Visual storytelling cuts across language and cultural barriers\, inviting broader participation and fostering empathy in a place where diverse voices meet. \nWhen used thoughtfully\, visual advocacy not only communicates information but also amplifies impact. In The Hague’s ecosystem compelling visuals can illuminate the lived experiences behind legal arguments\, highlight patterns that inform policy decisions\, and energize public engagement. By blending art\, narrative\, and evidence\, visual storytelling helps bridge the gap between global challenges and the people working to address them. \nThe March Edition of the Community Drinks will explore some of the following questions: \n\nIn what ways can visuals help bridge the gap between policy discussions and lived human experiences?\nHow do we represent people and their stories ethically\, especially when dealing with sensitive topics like conflict\, justice\, or human rights?\nHow can visuals avoid oversimplifying or sensationalizing complex issues?\nWhat role can creative storytelling play in sustaining open\, democratic societies?\n\nWho are the speakers? \n\nGregg The Artivist\nGregg is a storyteller and activist using art to cut through noise\, challenge broken systems\, and reconnect us to what matters.\nHuman Rights in The Picture\nHuman Rights in the Picture is a non-profit organisation that advocates for human rights through visual storytelling. The organisation shines a light on human rights violations\, injustices and inequalities through film\, music\, photography and other forms of art\, and gives a voice to victims of human rights violations.\nMovies That Matter\nMTM’s mission is to open eyes to human rights. They use film to stir the debate on human rights\, sustainability and fight against injustice. Film has the unprecedented capacity to raise awareness and provide new insight.\n\nWho is it for?\nIf you are interested in connecting with people and their work towards a more peaceful\, just and sustainable world\, this event is for you. Whatever your role or sector\, join Community Drinks to relax\, exchange perspectives\, and connect with this vibrant community committed to making the world more peaceful\, just and sustainable\, one conversation at a time. \n  \n	Reserve a spot This link opens in a new tab

SUMMARY:Community Drinks: Peace & Justice Beyond the Bubble
DESCRIPTION:What if your next game-changing connection is just a drink away?\nJoin us for Community Drinks to wind down around a glass\, make new connections\, and get inspired by the spotlights of the evening. While hundreds of institutions work on peace\, justice\, human rights\, and security\, the field can often feel closed-off\, technical\, elite\, or geographically distant from the lived realities of many residents. \nThis edition of Community Drinks takes place right before the municipal elections\, making it a timely moment to reflect on who feels included in the city’s peace and justice ecosystem\, and who does not. \nWho are the speakers?\n\nNetwerk Haagse Helpers\n\nThe Haagse Helpers is a community of volunteers who are building a socially connected city. Young people help fellow citizens\, inspire each other\, and flourish themselves. The Haagse Helpers pay attention to raising awareness among young people to contribute in and to the city. In addition to doing volunteer work\, we have fixed monthly activities\, and we also offer workshops and training to volunteers to strengthen the community’s feelings even more. \n\nLeiden University\n\nLeiden University’s Campus The Hague is the home to teaching and research focused on international law\, governance\, urban issues\, global affairs\, and health—the series brings together academics\, students\, practitioners\, and citizens to explore inclusive approaches to building peaceful societies. Leiden University will be represented by Maja Vodopivec\, Senior University Lecturer at Leiden University College. Drawing on her background in post-war Bosnia and Herzegovina\, her PhD research in Tokyo\, and her teaching in peace and conflict studies\, Maja co-founded Fireside Peace Chats to counter increasing securitization in academic discourse and reconnect discussions of peace with lived realities in the world’s capital of peace and justice. \nMore information about the speakers to be shared shortly. \n	Register here!
